Freedom to the slave.

For this little assignment I decided to use this image above titled “Freedom to the slave.” which I found on the New York public library website for their collections of images. We were suppose to find a image that represented pre-civil war and to be honest I am not sure if this is pre civil war or not but the image really did grab my attention so I wanted to use it. The reason this image caught my attention so much is because in this class we talk about slavery and literature written by people who were slaves and what they went through in life. So to see what looks like a American solider holding up the American flag along with a banner saying “freedom to the slave” I feel as though was very powerful for its time even if it may not have actually happened it shows a lot of meaning into one picture. This piece does look like propaganda from its time that is something that went around during the war, these images have stories and meanings behind them. What l
