For this artifact I chose to talk about the Literacy Archive assignment we had. For this assignment we had to create an archive of fiction and nonfiction texts with ties to historical and current events. We had to have five fiction and five nonfiction books and had to write a description of the book, description that references the historical or current event in the text, and how I would use this text in my future classroom. This assignment is aligned with standard number five the application of content because in standard five it says the teacher understands how to connect concepts and use differing perspectives to engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving related to authentic local and global issues. This relates and aligns with this assignment because having done all the research on these books, I genuinely want to put them in my future classroom library and use them with my students or have my students have free range to look and read them. Having these texts gives me more content to different perspectives and trying to make sure all my students feel accepted and belong in my future classroom.

I really enjoyed working on this assignment because it gave me access to create resources that I will be using in my future carer. Having as many resources, tools, and mentors as you can espically when it comes to your first years of teaching. You can never have too many resources and tools for your classroom. This assignment expands my pedagogical knowledge and improves my future practice as an effective educator because I now already have ten social studies related books in my classroom library. That is more then what I started off with. With learning about new texts and seeing what they are all about will help me as a future educator. When you have a classroom library it is important to put in important and informational books rather then just books that are fun.
