Public Rehabilitation System

(Known as The Soldiers Rehabilitation Act) 

Funding in Rehabilitation was passed in 1918 and it was known to veterans and active soldiers around that they have someone supporting them if they get injured. This law is significant because it introduced a new concept to help people with disabilities get support. That does not mean money, it means you will get help with an injury with PT and veterans will be prepped for new jobs that will help them grow with their “new” ability. In 1920 after seven states training injured workers congress decieded to expland the verterans program to where it now included veterans and anyone with a physical disability

For this artifact I chose to use the posters we did for our historical artifact assignment shown above. For the assignment we had to sign up for a specific event in special education history. We had to create a visual artifact of the event I chose.It needed at least one picture and a description of what the event was and how it related to special education. The day the assignment was due we brought in a printed copy of our assignment and did a big group activity trying to put all the events in historial year order and talked about each of our events as if it was their time to go. I chose this assignment for this standardt because the standard states “The teacher works with learners to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, encouraging positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self motivation.” My professor worked with us to make sure we were supported during our presentations because she helped us during each presentation. All the feedback before, during, and after the assignment was positive and very helpful.

This assignment was very fun but a little difficult for me. I enjoyed getting to work with my classmates and being able to create conversatiomns about the material in class and combine ideas. This assignment will help with my knowledge growing for future pratice as an eeeductaor because it is helping me study super important topics and steps in the special education history to help my  future students and peers to get to the material and options available to everyone.
