For this assignment I had to share definitions and descriptions of my foundational knowledge of trauma and ACEs. I had to also explain my understanding of the impact of toxic stress and trauma on the brain. Also including my thoughts from the readings and from the class discussion along with my own thoughts. I chose to show myh information for this assignment in a powerpoint. This assignment is aligned with standard two because in standard three it says The teacher uses understanding of individual differences and diverse cultures and communities to ensure inclusive learning environments that enable each learner to meet high standards. I believe this assignment and the standard go together because when a teacher has the right knowledge and training to understand everything a student could be going through it can be very beneficial in the classroom in case they aren’t participating or they are not okay.

This assignment has expanded my pedagogical knowledge and will improve my future practice as an effective educator because trauma has always been something I have been interested in and wanted to learn more about. When I decided to go into education I already had the psychology learnings and teachings of trauma so I was very interested to see what education had to say about trauma. With this assignment I was able to get a good understanding of situations my students can be in, situations I can be in, and what I need to start doing to be prepared for situations. Trauma is no joke and can happen to anyone. I am going to need to be trauma responsive when I have my own classroom.
