Artifact 2- EDU 373
For this assignment we had to write a lesson for BLAST. This was our second to last time at BLAST so this was one of the lesson plans Emilee and I made for our students. The week we were presenting this lesson we focused on addition and subtraction with our students because we noticed this was a standpoint where our students were struggling or could use some more practice on. In standard six it says “The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teacher’s and learner’s decision making.”. This standard aligns with my artifact i have put because I am making a lesson with my partner to present to students to expand and help their knowledge. I am giving them formative assessments each meeting and only gave one summative assessment, we were tracking their process each week (is in the reflection section), and we all made decisions along the way.
This assignment will help me in my future classroom because this is something I am going to be doing a lot in my teaching carrer. Writing lesson plans is not the easiest when you first start writing them so having the opportunity to write them in undergrad and actually being able to present the lesson I wrote is a great learning experience overall. It shows me what I can do to improve my lessons/lesson plans, what I could do netter next time, what dod my students need for the next lesson, etc. This is all just great practice and experience towards student teaching and having my own classroom in the future. I was learning from the students and the students were learning from me.
