For the in class assignment we had to choose which instructional strategy we wanted to do from the list our professor had given us. I chose to do cooperative learning. Cooperative learning helps with interdependence, peer interaction, indivdual and group accountability, interpersonal skills, and problem solving. This helps students work on educational and social skills. Standard eight is “The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to develop deep understanding of content areas and their connections, and to build skills to apply knowledge in meaningful ways.” Cooperative learning uses different strategies to better the students’ education while also helping them build everyday life skills.

I really enjoy doing assignments like these because it helps me get a better understanding of certain material. There are a lot of strategies that go into a better education and one day I am going to need to know all of them. But for right now this assignment will help me in the future because with now knowing more about each strategy and seeing everyone else’s in the booklet KG made for our class, I cann now use these strategies in my future classroom. Even with doing fieldwork or substitute teaching in the future knwoinng these strategies will be beneficial to my students and myself.
